I was in for a treat!Firstly, I met up with the other ladies who where signed up too, before Adela introduced us all to the lovely artist who was to be our guide and tutor for the morning. She was wonderful and kind, very encouraging, and supplied us with all we would need for our artistic workshop. We were a mix of nationalities from Canadian, English, French and Czech, and though the instruction was in French, English was widely spoken too, so there was no language barrier! We were encouraged to turn off our phones and be ‘in the moment’, which even I managed to do (well, most of the time: I needed to get a few photos to share with you, didn’t I)?! Play the video to see where we went and what we painted! We enjoyed three stops:
- The first was overlooking a field of ancient Olive trees with views towards Cannes
- The second by a bridge crossing the Siagne Canal, with clear views across to the medieval hilltop village of Mougins
- The third in the gardens of the Chapel Notre Dame La Vie, favourite spot of Picasso and next to his home.
The company was fabulous! Thank you ladies for making the day so special! We even enjoyed delicious vegan pastries and rooibos tea in delicate china mugs! Adela had thought of everything! We are now working on getting dates in the diary to run a Provencal Papillon painting day at Le Mas Candille! Can you see yourself already, painting the views towards Grasse and the pre-Alps, or up towards the village of Mougins from our grassy hill? Or why not from our terrace as the French Riviera sunlight works its magic on the original Mas farmhouse? Then we can enjoy lunch either poolside at La Pergola, or on the terrace of Le Candille: yum! Comment below if you would like to be contacted once dates are finalised, or click here to check the latest dates with Adela directly. I can’t promise you are going to become the next hit on the art scene, but you really will have a fabulous day out, with the added advantage of a digital detox: leave your phone off and let your mind be free to wander to create your work of art.
