This May we welcomed Gagan to Le Mas Candille for a stay, read about her holiday below:
One week prior to Covid lockdown, I had the pleasure of visiting Le Mas Candille Hotel and Spa,
Mougins. This stunning 5 star luxury hotel is ideally situated between Cannes and Nice.
We were travelling from London Heathrow to Nice airport, making our travel time total of 2 hours.
Upon our arrival, Mark (the owner of Le Mas Candille) graciously offered to pick us up from the
airport. It took us mere 25 minutes from the airport to the hotel.
The moment we arrived at Le Mas Candille, we were in the awe of this spectacular place. If you are
seeking an unforgettable Cote d’ Azur experience, then Le Mas Candille is an ideal spot for you!
Now, let me provide you with five fabulous reasons why I loved our stay here and why I would highly
recommend that you come and see it for yourself!
Location: The hotel is located in the medieval village of Mougins. Considering it is located 10 minutes
from Cannes and half an hour from Nice, Le Mas Candille is a perfect base to explore ever so dreamy
French Riviera. It is beautifully tucked away in a serene location, which provides you with a relaxing
home base while visiting the Riviera. This takes me to my next reason!
Grounds: The entire 8 acres of idyllic setting makes this place a true haven of peace and tranquillity.
This time around we were so mesmerised by the resort’s beauty, we didn’t want to explore
elsewhere. The Cotes d’Azur‘s views from the hotel are truly magical and breath-taking. May it be
the view from Hotel’s terrace, room balcony, main swimming pool, it is impossible to escape Cote d’Azur infamous beauty! We spent majority of our stay enjoying the hotel’s facilities and strolling
around the most scenic local village Mougins.
Food: If you are a foodie like me, then you will be utterly impressed by Le Mas Candille gourmet
restaurants. During our stay we had the pleasure to indulge in breakfast and dinner at Le Bistrot du
Mas. The entire bistronomic experience at the Bistrot was thoroughly delectable. The restaurant
Chef strictly uses locally sourced ingredients in its scrumptious menu, further adding to the whole
boutique experience. My recommendations for breakfast would be everything on Breakfast buffet
(cheeky I know, but true) and if you are seeking an extra oomph than go for French toast (available
upon request). For dinner, I highly recommend you indulge in Foie Gras Ravioli as a starter and Coal
fish for dinner. I would pair that with a glass of Petales de rose! Top it all of with Le Chocolate – aka
the Ultimate Chocolate Fantasy!
Also note that, the main Michelin star restaurant remained closed and set to open in Spring 2021.
Customer Service: If all of the above reasons weren’t good enough, the staff at Le Mas Candille takes
the cake. From the moment we checked in till we checked out, we were graciously welcomed by the
staff. I have had my share of luxury hotel experiences and I wouldn’t be exaggerating when I say, Le
Mas Candille has the best staff! The owners (Tina and Mark), front desk staff, restaurant really know
how to look after their guests. Needless to say, we made a couple of friends during our stay. To
name a couple; Nolan and Aurore are incredibly sweet and made our experience truly special! One of
the main reasons, I would return back to Le Mas Candille.
Village: As I mentioned above, Mougins is the most beautiful hilltop village located in Cote d’Azur.
We were swept off our feet by the most incredible views of French Riviera. This picturesque village is
filled with cute cafes, shops and art galleries. Picasso himself chose to spend his final years in this
beautiful village, I rest my case. If you are fortunate enough to visit this village, you must go see
Musee d’Art Classique de Mougins. We had the pleasure of getting a private museum tour. This
museum contains an impressive collection of antiques including Greek, Roman and Egyptian
sculptures, vases, coins and jewellery. It has the world’s largest private collection of ancient arms
and armour that left us speechless.
All in all, our entire stay was truly special and we would definitely return back to Le Mas Candille.
Perhaps, this time around we can get ourselves to Cannes, Grasse and delve into the whole French
